What I do with this

Read this before you go further

Offering shelter or support to people being hunted by the state is not a neutral act. The agencies pursuing them have shown they do not reliably wait for warrants, do not reliably respect due process, and run detention facilities that meet the clinical definition of concentration camps. Understand what you are placing yourself in front of.

Surveillance has preceded action. Before a raid, before a knock, homes, vehicles, phones, and communications have been monitored. You could become a target before you have sheltered anyone at all.

They have come through doors without warrants. ICE and similar agencies have conducted armed forced entry without warrants. Anyone present when they arrive — you, your partner, your children — could be taken. What the law says they are required to do has not stopped them.

People sheltering others have been beaten and shot at. You do not need to be the person they came for. Being present is enough.

This could cost you your life. ICE agents have shot innocent people with no justification. Not in high-profile political cases. Not in exceptional circumstances. In routine operations. This risk exists regardless of who you shelter or why. Do not offer what you are not prepared to lose.

Everyone in your home shares this risk without having chosen it. Your partner. Your children. Your roommates. Anyone who happens to be there. They did not sign up for this. You need to have that conversation with them — fully, honestly — before you submit this form.

I need you to come in knowing exactly what has happened to people doing what you are considering. Not a warning added for legal protection. A documented reality. If you still want to help — good. But go in clear.

These are not a formality. I read every answer carefully. They help me understand your situation and protect the people I will send to you. Short or dishonest answers will be obvious. I would rather turn you away than put someone in danger.

Vetting questions

Why do you want to help? * Be specific. A sentence or two is fine.

Do you understand what you could be placing yourself in front of — forced entry without warrants, detention without process, physical harm, and death — and that everyone in your home faces the same risk? * Tell me in your own words what you understand this to mean. Tell me you have spoken with the people in your home, or explain why that is not possible.

Who else lives in or regularly accesses your space? * Partners, roommates, family members, frequent visitors. Age and relationship is helpful. If offering transport only, who has access to your vehicle or schedule?

Is anyone in your household a risk to a vulnerable person placed with you? * This includes: history of violence, abuse, or sexual assault; addiction that affects behavior; mental health crises that affect others; prior convictions involving harm to people; or any other factor I should know about. I am asking you to be honest. If you are unsure, say so.

Have you ever worked for, contracted with, or volunteered with any agency that detains, deports, or surveils people — including ICE, CBP, Border Patrol, FBI, local police, corrections, military MP, fusion centers, or private contractors that do work for those agencies? * These agencies operate concentration camps. If you have worked for any of them in any capacity, I need to know the full context and your honest assessment of whether that disqualifies you. Do not minimize it.
